Bit,
With further reference to your letter 217/
1917 of the 9th, May last I beg to inform you that my father
has had the property known as "The Homestead" valued by the
three leading firms of Architects in Hongkong.
Their valuation amounts to approximately
$150,000, to which must be added 10% for compulsory purchase,
making a total of $165,000, also Valuers' fees and legal
expenses.
The steel work and wire mesh referred to
in previous correspondence is not included in the above
figures, as Messrs. Shewan, Tomes & Co. are willing to take
it over.

to acquire the property compulsorily, nor am I in any way
authorised by my father to accept the amount above mentioned,
but I shall be glad to forward to him any communication
which you may desire to make on this subject.
I have, etc.,
(8d.) Ho Wing.
